Privacy notice

Last updated 2 November 2026

IFC Games ("we") runs Werewolf — The Village and is the data controller for the personal data described here.

What we collect and why

  • Host account details (email, password or Google sign-in) — to create your account and link your licence. Basis: contract.
  • Gameplay details (the name you play under, an optional selfie or chosen avatar, votes and in-game actions) — to run the game. Basis: contract / legitimate interests.
  • Group planner text you type — to give a recommendation. Basis: legitimate interests.
  • Licence records (purchase reference and status, not card details) — to unlock hosting and handle refunds. Basis: contract.
  • Technical data (IP address, device and browser details, error logs) — for security, fraud prevention and fixing problems. Basis: legitimate interests.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers who host and run the app, including our hosting/database provider and an AI provider for the group planner.
  • Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for the sale, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
  • Apple, Google and RevenueCat, if you buy through an app store.
  • Professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires.

How long we keep it

Game data is kept only as long as needed to run and wrap up games. Account and licence records are kept while your account is active and as required for tax and accounting. Data no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.

International transfers

Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, such as encrypted connections and restricted access to stored data.

Cookies and storage

We only use essential browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember your place in a game. We do not use advertising cookies.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent. We reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
